Garage alarm

Hey guys, well im after an alarm foe the garage wihich is stand alone but ideally want the alarm to sound in house ams on garage, but dont really want to lift up all the decking to run some cables has any body fot any suggestions..

Also for a cctv setup, again wirless for garage, but want something on house too that can be wired up.

Some scroats broke in other night only got 2 bikes and an rc car but worried rhey will be back now they know whats in there..they manages to get them out over the car which is scratched to chiff aswell

you could use a wireless alarm or if yo know how to adapt a wireless push button alarm could be used

cctv is best being wired as you can hack into them to view your property was mentioned on the forum a while back i think under swann cctv post

You need a sound bomb inside, so loud it is to painful to hang around, also they can not hear if anyone is coming.

Hi Paul,
You make no mention of the garage's construction or entry arrangements.
My first line of defence would be to beef up the locks, make entry points more secure.
My garage is built into the house but even so, I fitted additional locking to main up & over, hinge bolts & 3 point locking to the side door plus large welded mesh behind the windows. Not the prettiest sight but the scroats would take one look & move onto an easier target. Yes after doing that I fitted alarm switches on the doors & windows.
Anything that slows up the pond life that do these things & makes breaking in more risky (to them) by spending time (& making noise) to overcome your deterrent measures, I would have thought was your first step.

The Cheapenese GSM ones on ebay are 12v, through a mains transformer, detectors are wireless too. Connect it upto a 12v alarm battery, topped up by a small solar panel, that's what I've done on a shipping container at my workshop.

I like those, but would suggest not using blanks.

My father had a weekend place had many breakins, i fitted an alarm and used a 7 mile siren i aquired. Local plod complained about it being too noisey. I just smiled and said sorry.

A simple 12 v alarm will do, infa red and a couple of door contacts, just make it as noisey inside as out.

This is a little bit different but have you considered a raspberry pi computer as part of your cc set up? I set one up some years ago in the garden as a motion detector for birds. It worked but was limited be the processing power. Since then the raspberry pi 3 has come out which is more powerful so would make its use in cc more viable. I am not suggesting it should be your only method but its cheap and unobtrusive so might be useful in some capacity.

As well as a alarm inside, a mate had a standard PIR sensor for lights, etc, up high on the outside of his garage. The sensor was wired to a quietish beeper. This was to let anybody know that they had been spotted BEFORE they got in the garage.

Preemptive notification by whatever means are far better than after the fact.

Beef up the building, any alarm needs aleast vibration detectors, triggering the alarm before they are inside

Hi guys
Sorry i was abit vague earlier.

Its a detached garage with 1 point of enty the garage door which is one of the crap ones with a single lock.
There is a window to rear but i have a cabinet screwed to wall infront of this.

Its brick built concrete floor,

Iv now temporarily screwed angle iron over door frame that sits with about 1mm gap above door to allow it to open but not easily acvesible with a screw driver.
Im going to reinforce door top where catch is too to stop it being as bendable (they didnt bend it this time but nothing to say they wont if they come back)

There is power to garage

There is a pir inside that lights up some outside lights mainly for the mrs in winter for walking up side of garage.

your up and over garage door is the problem thats if it that design to properly stop it opening sink a bar into ground that can be removed when you need to get in something that stops that door from opening

A friend used eight of those infra red beams and they cover his entire boundary. He has them set at waist height which stops small animals setting them off, all hell breaks loose the second you set foot on his property.

Why not put a side door in steel in a steel frame, and beef up the up and over from the inside. Security is about making them go elsewhere because its easier.

I dont bother getting dressed, just open door and let these out, gives me a moment to unlock the gun cabinet!

Then again being 3/4 mile from tarmac we dont get many passers by on a dark night, those we do must therefore be up to no good!

Dont have room to put a single door in as my walls are covered in racking
