If you make sure the bits you weld on are clean (rust free) then they will stick the item straight into the galvanising tank. They price the work by weighing the item before and after galvanising to calculate the amount of zinc used so it should be a fairly cheap job.Hi
I have some parts that are galvanised but I need to weld some bits to them, so after I've ground off the galv where I need to weld and done my welding I want to get them re-galvanised will this a problem ?

The bits I'm welding on will be clean, I just don't want to have to grind all the old galv off the rest before I send it for galvanising. If you make sure the bits you weld on are clean (rust free) then they will stick the item straight into the galvanising tank. The heat melts the original coating and gravity sorts out the coating thickness when it's lifted from the tank.Surely unless you have all the existing zinc stripped off prior to reglaving then dipping again will add another layer so in fact you will pay twice ?
I didn't know you could redip stuff, sent beams of before that were to long for tank, they dipped one end ,turned them round and dipped the other the overlap in middle where they were double dipped was a black horrible mess.
