Galvanised nuts, bolts & washers - suppliers

Morning All,

I need to buy around 200 M16 galvanised bolts, along with nuts and washers.

Quantities for specific sizes range from 150 off, down to 4 off, so I don't really want to have to buy a box of each of the lower quantities.

Can anyone recommend any good suppliers?

screwfix ones are BZP, i have used loads of them on cars i have built and none have ever gone rusty if that is what you are worried about

Fastco in Crewe. They have a web shop now. Free delivery over £12. Much cheaper than screwfix on fasteners
I use them a lot.

as ur in the countryside most good farming supplies keep them in stock.........u do realise that normal BZP nuts and bolts wont fit the galv stuff if u get stuck.......
making the materials for galv nuts and bolts use special taps and dies just for that purpose......

I'll over-order to give us some spare.

The project is going to end up living on the east coast, holding a boat, which is why we're going for galv fasteners rather than bzp.

I'm guessing both threads are cut a little oversize to allow for the galv, which also probably fills the root of each thread a bit?

Oops, sorry. I missed the galv bit, I think fastco get galved bolts in to order. I had to ring to get galved.

Is the structure you are bolting together galvanised?
If not , go with BZP.

( saying that , we used to use BZP on galv structures when I worked for a quarry plant structure company )

Pretty much, they clearances are bigger on galv fasteners.
Zinc nuts don't really go onto galv bolts very well. A galv nut will run down a zinc bolt, but you can feel they are slightly looser.

Just check the grade you are buying as I have seen some very poor quality fastenings in the past.

I'm guessing so, at this size and quantity. I'd usually use A4 for smaller stuff.

Yes, it will be eventually, once it's finished testing. It'll be left outside and dunked in sea water a couple of times a year.

Just check the grade you are buying as I have seen some very poor quality fastenings in the past.

Thanks for the heads-up. Most people are offering 8.8, which is fine for the application.
