Is it okay to make a log burner out of galvanized steel?, I know that it produces poisonous fumes when welded, so will it be alright with a roaring log fire burning within it?
many thanks
George
I think all these bottles are galvanised under the paint. I know mine was. It's at the sandblasters now, not for when it burns but because I'm sick of welding it with the galv on.
Im not using a gas bottle, can get hold of one right now, im using and old galved water tank. its big square and there fore fits well in the workshop, and fits alot of fuel within it.
the galv will not burn off mate dont worry about it
i've done loads now the only smell is the paint burning off on calor (type) bottles which is applied above the galv just grind it where you are going to weld
most stoves are made of thick material but mostly for longevity and to retain heat in the material after the burn
try it in the garden first to check it doesn't fall apart then crack on
lol
well it is abit thin, but i dont have anything else to use right now, and i could always beef it up with some thick sheet metal right?,
I'll tri it in the garden and see how it goes.
thanks
