Galaxy 7 edge trouble?

I have now have enough so i was wondering before i go back to the Tesco phone shop what you folk have experienced with these phones.

A few months back i got a new on contract Samsumg Galaxy 7 edge mobile as before i that the Galaxy S3 so i got an early upgrade, twice the bloody price but it was said to be a dam good phone etc etc and would suit what i need. better reception for phone and internet use.

I am a delivery driver and everyday i am up the North East and North of England and i am lucky to be able to keep reception on a short 10 mile run and find it hard to get get a good one if any while driving around to drops. Even at home in North Manchester i have to walk around the house to get good reception,



I am going back to Tesco tomorrow and will be asking if i can swap the phone or leave the contract, i doubt i will get either? If they dont i will just not pay the contract and suffer the consequence as i have had enough, the money they cost it is wrong and must be illegal to not provide the service what you are paying for.



Has anybody else have back experience with the 7 Edge phones?

Ive got the S6 Edge so not really in the same ball park.. it does sound like a dodgy phone to me or an issue with the sim card, for calls in the house have you enabled WiFi calling? I used to get a great signal in the house, but EE upgraded the local cell tower to Super fast 4G which by some stroke of bad luck left me with a bad signal, once I enabled WiFi calling I have zero issues in the house.

is roaming enabled while you are in UK, heard that leaving it on can cause problems.

Are you using the same network as you were on the S3 and if so, what is the direct comparison?

Yes same network, just an upgrade from the Tesco phone shop, the S3 was a little better than the Edge, the Edge is even bad/rough reception at home.

The problem is that i am paying near £700 for a phone ( on contract though ) that as said to better and get better reception and it is worse than ever, in fact all other phones i have had.

I've got 2 phones on contract with Tesco and they have been excellent about any problem. Currently the one my wife uses doesn't suit her (she wants a Galaxy)so despite 8 months remaining on the contract no trouble changing to another phone with just £12.50 payable to exit the previous contract.
Basically just ask as you have nothing to loose and if same as my experiences you might be pleasantly surprised.

I hope so, although with the last phone ,before the S3, i wanted to upgrade 3 months early on a contract and they wanted the rest of the contract paid before hand of the upgrade.

Ahhhh Tom you have the EE UPgrade Us to! in the Somerset Somerton & surrounding aria, Just holding a call would be nice let alone reliable 4G,
The call quality cover has degraded over the last 12\18 months
I bet they told you there was no problem in your locality

WiFi calling on Vodafone is only available on contracts purchased direct, not from resellers.
I have an S7 Edge on Vodafone and it's fine. I live in a rural location and signal is minimal in the house but enough to make a call and send a text, tried various phones and networks but they are all of a muchness in the house.
In the garden I get 3G, head into town and the 4G kicks in.
I am a heavy user on my mobile because of my job and a day will knock the battery down about 40% which is an improvement over my iPhone 5 which use to lose 60% in a day. This is with Location and Bluetooth running constantly.

only ever have 4G ( mobile data ) on when i am using the net, never leave it on, as with the blue tooth, i only have that on when at work in the van as it drains the battery so fast..

I was thinking this could be area/reception thing but it is such a large area.

ust got back, all that has been done is new SIM card fitted, i was told to give it a try, if still no good then she will send the phone to be tested and if it is the phone then they will swap it for another. But forthat there is nothing that can be done.



One thing i just laughed at was one of her comments ` what is your post code as if itis good there, which it is ok in Manchester then here is not much they will do`



When i said i s[end 11-12 hrs a day away from Manchester thenthat does not help as it is a MOBILE phone.



She checked on the system for a mast near a Newcastle postcode and she said well there is Mast near there.



I wills ee how t goes, if it is no good then i will gte the phone unlocked and go elsewhere, or get another phone and sod the bill.

You don't say what connection you are trying to use. If it's only using 3 or 4 g then that may be the problem. You will need to turn 2g on. The coverage of 4 g is patchy at best and is usually centered around population centres.

just had a look and it set to auto LTE/3G/2G

Should i try to set it 2G only then?

It will pick 4=>3=>2

if it sees a weak 4 signal it will pick that over a better 2 connection.

it really depends on the coverage, but 2G coverage is better in rural areas

ah clever stuff........if it worked lol, i will change it to 2G when the SIM swaps over and get to work next week. Why on earth did she not mention anything like these to try first though, but then she said there is only a SIM card to try or send the phone off to be tested.

What's wifi calling?

You use any wifi network you have access to to route your calls in and out. It still comes out of your calls and text allowance but you are no longer reliant on a signal from a mast.
