MMA welder with endless electrode feed...for when mig just doesn't cut it

How in hades that would work I leave to others.....

Wouldn't that be like flux core welding?

What about stick welding with a shielding gas?

?May I have a welder that teaches me how to do it properly, akin to a personal tutor?

Too slow, more wire, less heat and so on, preferably in a soft Scottish accent.

I'm thinking for outdoor work, where your doing long runs (to save grinding out stop starts etc), problem would be making a way for the filler rod to feed (3.2 doesn't bend well) and a flux coating that could withstand being rolled and unrolled...

Have 2 machines set up and start the weld with one until it's gone, then get the second stick into the same arc and continue with that one whilst passing the first holder to your apprentice/welding-slave for him to put a new stick in it and pass it back to you, then repeat as necessary.

It should be made law after the election that all welders be put on a minimum wage of £50 per hour.

Nah £100 an hour...dangerous job innit gov, all them toxic fumes, hot metal, Radiation and all that

An affordable battery powered welder?

When I say affordable, I don't mean for factories where breakdowns cost x thousand per minute, I mean on a similar level to inverter welders that the majority can afford.

I suppose that actually they should have some kind of tracker, so you can sit back and watch its path to make sure it's dead center before you hit the big button

There should be a live feed camera too so you can see when it's nearest to their many propane cylinders before you press the button.

Battery technology seems to moving along quite nicely now, especially since the discovery of Graphine, caoacity is increasing and weight & charge times decreasing. I can battery welders becoming a reality pretty soon.

A lot of pipe welders do use this tecnique.

I found a box of electrodes in the loft but I need a smaller collet in my torch to try it out. I have seen pictures of people doing it.

I think I read about someone stick welding with the machine in tig mode and using a pedal, I'll see if I can find the page.

Our big esabs in the shipyard would run the pedal whilst on MMA mode, caught me out a few times on a Monday morning, half asleep wondering why the rod was just fizzig rather than actually burning
