Funny sign.

Just found this sign that was on a new machine that was delivered from Germany in the late 1990's. Somehow I don,t think it came from over there, but we didn't know who put it on!

It's not actually German Mike, it's a joke "pidgin deutch" sort of thing:

"ATTENTION !
USE YOUR PEEPERS

The computermachine is not for finger poking and mitten grabbing. It's east to snap the springs, blow a fuse..."

I think I first saw that spoof message in the late '70s, on a an IBM 370/145 mainframe computer...

I always laugh in the motorways when it says

SIGN NOT IN USE

using the LEDs of the sign to tell you that rather than

OVER TAKE, PULL IN

Back when those motorway gantry signs first came in my Dad was driving a wagon with a passenger back up North. Said passenger never wore a seatbelt (my Dad always did) and as they approached the gantry sign it flashed "PLEASE WEAR YOUR SEATBELT" or some such.

"Bloody Hell!" says the passenger quickly clunk-clicking, "How did they know?"

Well, the article was from 2009 so if they've not patched the roadsigns then they deserve everything they get!
The rest of us have to cope with GDPR so I think it's only fair that we expect a roadsign vendor to protect themselves from zombies

On the new AWPR (Aberdeen bypass) there was a sign "new roundabout ahead" which wasn't very surprising to me, as I was on a brand new bit of road that had just opened!
