went in to work last night to find new eng on days had borrowed load of my clamps and left them lying around machine he was working on.

i had to spend 2hrs finding them, and cleaning them before i could do my jobs.

theres a big sign above my bench stating tools on it are mine and not to be used by anyone else, boss told him when showing him round that my bench is mine and no-one else is to touch stuff on it as most of tools are my own as better quality than stuff we get supplied, or what ive modded to make things easier/quicker.

he was just to lazy to go in office and get keys for clamps cupboard.

first time while ive been there someone as touched my stuff, people have asked and been lent tools, but always bring straight back and clean.

sorry if its rant but i was raised to respect another mans tools.

I used to suffer the same crap off workmates , i was an apprentice and forked out a lot of money for really decent quality tools , i did engrave my name on them , but used to find them all over the place , only answer is a stout tool chest and a dirty great padlock combined with an aggressive snarl when asked for lendsies.

yepp padlock and swift kick in the nuts or you could explain that there yours not the companies and ask politely to keep his lazy hands off them. Then do the kick if he persists!

thing is i have never had to lock my stuff up in all time ive been there, neither have the others.
dont even lock money jar away where i keep change for drinks machine.

Know what you mean come to do a job and the stuff aint there repeatedly.

Old gaffer bought a locker for his company tools. We had great fun picking the lock borrowing what we wanted.
Also known at other places chests and cupboards to have their locks changed, all in a bit of fun.
