A well maintained plaselode puts them in fully. Its the well maintained bit that the issue, they seem to need more tlc than other brands. My neighbour who's a very good carpenter / roofer has recently bought into red stuff. Uses a mixture of all to be fair because he's a farmer and never throws anything out.
Reason behind it was down to one tool - their framing nail gun. I've got almost exclusively red stuff as it started off with mechanics tools so made sense when I wanted a nail gun.
Whenever Tom was around and needed a framing nail gun mine mysteriously disappeared. Funny you could actually hear from several hundred yards away which one he was using. The key selling point was he said the Paslodes he has really don't like the 4" ring shank nails and always leave them proud. Even in the crappy stuff that passes for wood these days. The Milwaukee on the other hand needs to be dialed back to its minimum power and still sinks them in below the surface usually.
His mate who works with him complained it was heavier so was going to stick to the Paslodes. When I asked if the Milwaukee was heavier than the Paslode and a hammer he went very quiet...![]()
In days gone buy youd have paid to get a repair estimate on some stuff, as it was almost fixed by the time you’d figured out what was wrong with it!
