So I have done a bit of spraying in my time and done a full respray before which turned out okay after a lot of flatting and polishing! I am attempting it again and want to now the best way to go about it. last time I did one it was respray of the existing colour to freshen it up so I did not bother going in the door shuts and tailgate shuts. This time I need to do that as although I am doing black on black it is a different black!
So I am already planning to do the front wings and bumpers off the car so I just need to do the main body, boot and doors.
What I am wondering is should I spray in all the shut areas before and then mask them out with that foam door shut tape and do the main respray as a second operation. doing it that way I would intend to flat back any overspray on the main body first so as not to leave any shadow or witness. Alternative I could mask the door and tailgate and leave them open and do all in the shuts and main body at once. Probably the boot as well. and then do the doors after on their own. The only reason I say to do the doors after is for space to move around safely without knocking an airline or something onto a fresh paint!
Asides that I was going to spray the rear end which main gets covered by the bumper first, then go onto the roof and spray from one side to the middle (if I cannot work front to back), Jump around the other side of the car and then do the rest of the roof from middle out. Then back to the first side and go down the rear pillar and do the rear quarter and door shut. then back to the second side and do the same? I can see a potential issue where I might get a line starting the rear pillars after finishing the roof?
So do I just start at the back and then work up the side of the car from the sill and into the rear quarter then up to the roof and then over and back down instead?
Would appreciate any advice.
Thank you
