front end advice to weld or not to weld

Rights guys i need your advice im 17 years old restoring my classic mini. and I need the front end replacing. on the mini because it is really rusted to bits. i have bought a new front end and a Clarke 151 te welder and a spray gun and compressor. but do not feel confident to weld it on myself. so i was wondering how much it would cost. if i got someone to do it for me and what you guys think. i should do i need other bits a bobs doing as well. like a panels, scuttle, and the sills also needs a spray if there’s anyone in the Northampton area that could help me out. that would be great !!!

why not get a big pile of offcuts and practise away until you feel confident?

ye, like above, get some scap metal, or new the same thickness as your minis and practice away, theres a good tutorial at the top of the page and well all help you along the way

I have to lend some support to this, the tutorials on here are pretty dam good, especially the technique for welding thin metal. I tried the spotting method as shown on the tutorials and it turned out better than i could have dreamt, no blow through , right amount of penetration and also very neat.
but tlike the guys say practice practice practice

Hi all I am new to the forum and have just acquired an oxford 181 mig, and the wire feed is not working. However i disconnected the motor and that works fine it is a 24v motor and when connected to the welder itself it tries to work but does not. Any ideas? Cheers Dean.

I am assuming it is a single phase 240v mig
is the moter unable to feed the wire or is completely dead?

Yes it is a 240v 15a welder, the motor says 24v on it! when it is connected to the pcb it just makes a noise but if i disconnect it and put it on a car battery it works fine.

hello hve you tried checking the out pit off the PCB as if the motor is working direct connection to DC then its po sable not the motor
