From Prusa to Bambu

You do seem to be having more than your fair share of problems. Are you trying to print other brands of filament using the bambu profiles or the generic profiles ?

For the CC3D filament, I tried the Bambu PETG-HF profile and the Generic PETG profile (results were very similar).

For the Prusament filament, I tried the Bambu PETG-HF profile, the Generic PETG profile and the "OurAngryBadger" one intended for the X1C for Prusament. Again, results were fairly similar with all profiles.

Please do you have a photo of some parts with the satin finish plate? I might be tempted to get one for the P2S. The textured does leave it a bit rough.

I remembered I'd taken this comparison of the Prusa build plate (left) vs the textured PEI plate (right):

The Oseq one is similar to the Prusa one but I'll try to get some true comparison photos later.

OSEQ on the left, Bambu Textured PEI on the right. Same model. same PETG filaments (Deeplee Grey and Bambu Black). Default settings with 0.4 mm nozzle.

I LIKE the Bambu plate's stippled finish. Like old school car vinyl trim.

The X1C is super quick. As I've said before the Anycubic i3 Mega S bed slinger could produce near comparable quality prints but so much slower. Made prototyping a real pain.

The H2D is similarly much quicker than the Prusa MK3S. Things have come on a lot in a few years. Before buying the H2D I tried slicing a few models for the H2D, the newer Prusa Core and my MK3S. The MK3S was pretty consistently showing twice as long duration as the newer Bambu or Prusa.

No. Bambu do (at least) two PEI plates: a smooth one and a textured one. They're (I think) roughly equivalent to the Prusa Smooth PEI sheet and Textured Powder Coated sheet respectively. The Oseq one is equivalent to the Prusa Satin Powder coated sheet.

The smooth PEI plate gives you a smooth texture on the parts, but if you're printing PETG you need to use glue stick according to Bambu. The satin / oseq plates give you the smooth finish without having to mess around with glue.

That is a far bigger difference than I imagined! Any issues with buying/importing?
Its an odd thing that I have more concerns buying from Europe than I do from China!

Petg should stick well on a smooth PEI, atleast it does on the smooth patterned plates I'm using.

I still haven't got round to trying ABS or ASA.

If your after a matt finish, abs is possibly the best choice, it is extremely matt, the slight smell does not bother me - Im often in the same room designing stuff while its going.

I don't find the price of the Bambu filament that bad (at £9.72 per reel),

I wanted to try some of their premium stuff but its not get been part of their offers. I dont see much reason to buy their pla, petg, abs or tpu, as other bands are printing perfectly.

Thats my total so far. Amazon had some ridiculous xmas offers so I bought more than I was intending. I imagine they wont repeat it for a while.. most of them are showing £9-14 now.

No. There's a delivery charge of about £12 (from memory) but other than that the only issue was my lack of patience!

I think the concern with the smooth PEI is that PETG sticks too well and damages the plate when you remove it. Bambu and Prusa both say the same thing - don't put PETG on the plate without glue.

Good to know, thanks. The Bambu matt black PETG is pretty good though, as is the Deeplee grey.

Ah i was trying to work out what OSEQ plates to get before they were gone forever. They are for my Bambu X1C.

Mmm....so OSAQ do a sheet called Great Texture...assume that's something else and you talking about their standard PEI?... considering getting one for the MK3s.

I hadn't spotted the texture one (that only seems to be available for the Prusas and I was looking for Bambu stuff). The ones I've got are just called "Oseq sheet".
