Evening ladies and gents.
Instead of cluttering up 'Stuff you have made today' thread, here we go....
So, just short of three and a half years ago, we (wife and kids), bought a very cheap French farmhouse, a 'longere' ('cos it's long). It was exactly what we'd always wanted, good size house, workshop, barn and good size garden.
None the less, it was full of carp, you couldn't see the house from the garden, nor vice versa. Twenty years of newspapers, every jamjar, everything saved, the garden was full of double wire mesh fences, dug into the earth, with corrugated iron and plastic tarp. It's taken us 18 months to clear it and were still not finished.
However... Started off by putting in a septic tank, so we could at least have a loo, basic stuff.
Electricity, three phase present, took 18 months to get a bill, water was easier and present.
Toilets, leccy, and water, a good start. We've been camping for the last three years, but finally things are starting to accelerate, and we're getting there.
Anyway, I'll have to post some photos from my phone, to give you an idea, but specifically I am after advice re the bathroom, I've just started on, it's a blank canvas, which needs to be child floor proof as it's over the kitchen. I have an autistic son, who loves playing with water, and has regularly flooded the downstairs bathroom. This cannot happen, on the first floor, so I'm thinking a wet room with a central drain, in case this reoccurs.
Here come some photos, I'm a boat mechanic, not a builder, but that's not going to stop me, but I am well open to advice. As always thanks in advance.
