-- Our latest bunch of self-serving hypocrites (AKA - The Government of this sceptred isle) have been execising their gums about how 'we' need to re-create a manufacturing economy and educate for skills.
If my old and beer-adled mind can recollect, the blokes that taught me anything were generally the ones that had been at the job for a long while, knew their skill and didn't tolerate any horse-**** from the youngsters.
Two things:
1) You try and find any kids that can keep their face buttoned and their minds open while someone tries to tell them something.
2) The supply of old geezers with the required skill and the will to hand them on depletes by the minute.
Add to that, the country is run by ex-accountants, ex-lawyers, PR men and other wastes-of-space that haven't a clue about manufacturing and engineering.
