free auto - data

Hi Guy's,
I get to work on old cars etc.......I have loads'a info on the early stuff pre 1960 but all the data books after that got binned when I quit.......now working in retirement........
so looking for a safe, free data download for vehicle upto 1995.......after that I refuse to work on them....well nothing electronic........ just tappet clearences, dwell etc etc.......
can anyone help.......?

I think at that sort of age you will need to be looking at data for a specific make and model.

There are general packages (autodata) snap-on) and so on but they only tend to list the basic stuff like how many litres of oil needed for a change, torque settings for cambelt etc.
Most of this common stuff can be found on Google within a couple of minutes so not really worth installing the massive data package.

Sorry, I re-read and see you are looking for pre 95.

In that case a used copy of auto data would be a good buy if you had a spare laptop to stick it on.
Personally I would be searching ebay/car boot sales for Haynes manuals in job lots. Or asking dealers for old manuals on cd.

If I do anything on an older car I generally try to get the parts from the main dealer and ask them nicely to print out all the relevant pages from the workshop manual.
A get on well with a couple of local dealers and they will let me select as many pages as I like then they "print to pdf" and email me the pages over.
Great if you are doing head bolts etc as I can print the page then tick the bolts off one by one

That's Haynes manuals at 50p each.
Loads on there.
Also charity shops often have them.
Works out cheaper than buying printer paper and ink. Plus you can staple in extra sheets with notes and part numbers etc

sorry guy's , not enough room for all the Haynes manuals....and u'd not have the 1 u need anyway.....really needs to be an electronic download........
happy to pay for an Auto-data copy if anyone has 1........nothing on ebay at present........

I have an autodata rip off version on my laptop that came with the diagnostic set, can this be copied/burned onto a disc for @frank horton ?

It would depend on file size(s). If onto a DVD-RW doing it would probably work, if not to two discs would probably cover it.

all you get to see is this before i think 1980

also note certain copys only work with certain operating systems the version i have works on windows 7 as tried and tested on it

the 2 disk set he had wouldnt install on it but would install on an older system

Version 3.38 here, seems to cover 1959 through to 2011, has all the truck data in there as well. Thought I would check out the Morris Minor

was looking at some right old models for garage owner as its his usage even has rovers in there as well

You can burn large files to CD/DVD if you split them. Some burning software will do this for you, and when you load them onto a PC the files are reconstituted to their original form.

What's it like for the more modern stuff (e.g 90's through to say 2010 ish)? I've really wanted to get it but tried and failed, but having never actually used it I don't know just how good it is.

didnt know you wanted it but you can have it for me version 3.45 its only 2.12gb size

System requirements: Windows xp, 7, 8, 10

its good enough to give you the details for certain stuff if below a certain age on them after that theres diagrams for them i think
