I'm really impressed by onshape myself. Works in a browser (or tablet or even phone) but seems really decent, and it's free if you don't need to have private drawings
We sacked an engineer in 2015 for copying the software we use for fire, intruder and access systems. It came to light when our IT manager was alerted to addition down loads.
He was called in and was given immediate notice. He had to make his way from deep devon to London, with all his kit.
yep sounds about right. I'm an admin on our CAD database which logs everything that's been saved and downloaded by each user. The CAD system is locked down to prevent files being saved on to the C-drive of the workstation being used. I've found "personal" CAD models (i.e. stuff people have designed at work for "freelance" clients) tucked away in various folders by certain users. The system logs the exact times of saves and modifications. One designer in particular doesn't work here any more...
