I know there's quite a few motorcycle guys on here. A mate who doesn't do computers is after info about a 1935 Francis Burnett. Anyone know anyone with good knowledge, specialists, etc please

Well apart from being made in Coventry and usually powered by Villiers 2-stroke engines, the exception for1935 was the 250 Stag which was a 4 stroke ( I just looked the last bit up, the rest I already knew, which isn't much ). If he's looking for model specific info I would try owners clubs.

These have been featured on Bangers and Cash, and Henry Coles's Motorbike Show, She'd and Buried etc. If he doesn't do computers he probably doesn't do smart tv's either, but if you have Virgin or other services you can search Francis Barnett and it will find you tv shows about them.

They look like cool old bikes. I get the impression a tidy but original runner is more sought after than a restored bike these days. Originality seems to be everything. Good luck.

At the jumbles I see less project bike looking like they are harder to find as many have been restored or sadly scrapped

1935 was the Villiers engined era , as kids we seemed to have a never ending supply of Fanny B`s to muller into dirt bikes. Between five and twenty quid a pop back in the day

60 odd years ago we had a James with the Villiers 197 two stroke engine at my friend's uncles smallholding. We spent a lot of time riding round his field on that machine and all it ever got was fuel and the occasional spark plug.

First bike I rode was a James. Pal was a ministers son. Their garden was big enough for us to race about in. The bike spent more time being repaired than ridden. Great fun

Useless information. The 250 Norton Jubilee used a Francis Barnett frame.
