today, I realised what superficial item I would like to own in my life.

a 1968 gt500e fastback Shelby mustang...or Eleanor as she is also known.

was lucky enough to ride in one today, a mate of a mate has just restored one for a customer and had to test it. I was allowed a seat, and I am hooked.

straight through pipes on a 580bhp blown v8, side exit exhausts and it was a manual

I want one, I need one, I will have one even if I have to buy every single piece and build it from scratch

don't have pics of that one, but it was an exact rep of the one used in the gone in 60 seconds film with Nicholas cage, not the original from 74 lol

looking at prices, it may be a very distant goal. if I wanted to buy one already done it would cost around 75 grand...to do one properly myself would cost around 15 over a few years...

I think I may start with something a bit smaller and easier first. I have my eye on another xr3i that is in need of a good fix up and the engine could use some work. turbo, either carbs or mega squirt injectors, rs turbo hubs and brakes, and a subtle exhaust. just finding time to get round to sorting out buying it.

what with working for myself, and working as a machinist in a factory, and having a 6 month old son and Christmas coming up its hard to find time to sh*t at the moment lol.

but on a light note, I am off to the classic and vintage car rally at a very local Tredegar house tomorrow to drool over many many nice cars, and meet up with a mate with a few morgans and a few tvr's.

I installed a few robots for a company on the Tafarnaubach Industrial estate in the 80's, got to know the heads of the valleys road well

I love the 60's Mustangs, though tbh I think the Eleanor clone thing is a bit overdone. A simple Wimbledon White or Rangoon Red base model would be fine for me.

bullit was a gt390 and a different shape.

I don't want an Eleanor copy, I just want that specific model, or atleast one I can make look like that.

colour would probably be either all metallic black or a nice deep blue with white stripes.

probably wouldn't be able to get hold of the same engine either so would probably go with whatevery powerhouse I could wedge in there would be looking for atleast 550bhp though

My first car was stang;-) cost me a couple of hundred quid, just a plain old 67 289 fastback though.
