Silverstone is live on Channel4 , qualifying on Friday, sprint race Saturday , main race Sunday. Let's see if this trial format works.

I am a big fan of Lewis. Nice to see him on top again. Hopefully Mercedes have upped their game by bringing some decent upgrades to the party.
Must admit I don't like this new format. Year on year they mess about with F1 and every time they do it gets worse. It penalises the smaller teams who are constantly on the backfoot finding the funds to keep up with them. If they wanted closer racing then they should take a look at MotoGP

When did they last “muck about” with the format ?
This is just an experiment to give more racing over a weekend, if it does not work, it will go away.
I am sure the powers that fun F1 have looked at many forms of motorsport to try to improve the racing. Let’s all watch and enjoy . Once the race on Sunday is over we will have an idea of wether this system will be fully adopted, it is also scheduled to be run at two more race weekends.

Every so often F1 makes rule changes. This is nothing new . But if you are going to make changes , then you let everyone know of your intention and you start at the beginning of the season not part way through. Over the years I have seen many changes to F1 and I can't recall many that have made it more exciting. It seems to stifle innovation, yet it claims to encourage it.

What happens if someone stuffs their car into a barrier during the sprint race? Are the teams allowed to rebuild a car overnight for the main event and then presumably having to start last?

The great thing about stuff on TV is if you do not like or enjoy it then nobody forces you to watch it.

It's a bit like the internet. If you don't agree with what someone says no one forces you to reply and try and impose your opinion on them. You just just respect their right to have a different opinion to yours.

I work almost every weekend. I just record everything and watch when I get home. It’s also the reason I do not post actual results, in case someone has not had a chance to watch yet.
What I can't fathom is the practice they are doing now is it going to add more uncertainty or will the sprint race just add more conservative strategies as the sprint race can make or break you.....or more importantly others in that sprint race can make or break you.

Err. Yeah I'm not quite sure what happened either. I thought the "quali" was for sprint order. Then the sprint wins prizes, not sure how the main event is ordered. Is there another qualifying session? Does the sprint order also order the grid?
