"The team said it was "possible" they would make the decision as to whether Hamilton races as late as before Saturday's final practice session, which runs for an hour and starts at 10:00 GMT, three hours before qualifying."
Which IMHO is unfair and stupid to expect any driver who has not been in that car till then to do well.
In theory GR could practice in the Williams but then get into the Merc for quali. With JA not practising at all in the Williams.
Pathetic now.

Driver number two also gets very 'used' parts on their car, often when they are disgarded from driver number one's car!
I have a vague memory of Sebastian Vettel wanting the new front wing off of Mark Weber’s car because he thought it gave Weber an advantage ?

Yep, and funny isn't it, that MW was on many occasions the quicker of the two drivers but somehow SV ended up finishing ahead of him ...................................................!

GR was in the press conference for Mercedes. Hamilton's name is over the garage. An email is floating around saying anyone who tests positive in Bahrain can not travel to Abu Dhabi and you need to quarantine for after entry. The exception being on Monday when they could all travel as a bubble to the track or designated hotels.
Merc is trying to get government authorisation for LH to travel once he gets a negative Covid test up until the start of qualifying.....hence my post above.

I may have posted this before, but I recall back in the day when LH was driving for Mercedes alongside Nico Rosberg. Hamilton was having a run of what could be described as 'bad luck' in terms of car reliability, on- track engine failures, strategy differences etc and having been bested by Rosberg several times.
When questioned in a post-race interview about these 'failures', he said "I don't know, is it 'cos I is black?" He later claimed that he said it as a joke but it was clear he was suggesting that the team were favouring his rival. Chip on his shoulder about his colour? It's been evident as the years have passed that's exactly what his problem is.
Just my opinion of course, but I haven't supported him since that day to this.

Whereas I fully supported him at that point. It was clear that Mercedes wanted a German driver to win a WC in their car. If Hamiltons car didn't break down, Rosberg would run him off the track or just ram him. There was also the notorious "oops I'm having a crash" at Monaco where he parked his car deliberately to ruin Lewis' qualifying lap.
