Well, thanks to eBay I now have a forklift truck

LOL.

I really have no idea why. Its a couple of miles up the road and less than fifty quid.

So I took a punt and see if I can use any bits. Assuming I can get it home!

I'm guessing these things are a bit heavy?

It probably around 3-4 ton most of the weight will be the batteries.

There should be plenty to salvage.

That's a reach truck weighs about 3 Tonnes. Did it come with a charger?

From the photo I can see that There's no battery's in it!

The forks are worth much more than that on thier own,

the hydraulic lift cylinders, pump, spool valve block.... Loads of scope for projects!

On things like this the battery packs are on a leased contract, Plus chargers are an extra.

Mate offered me one from his works for free as I was after a hefty electric motor for putting in a light car. Only problem was moving it as weighed several tons so had to pass in the end. I think the balance weight on the back is cast iron and over a ton itself !

Hmm. A ton of cast iron is going to weigh in for a few quid. I'll see if I can break it for spares first I guess.

Can't believe it went so cheap. Now I know why.

If it were round the corner from me and £50 I'd have done the same......

Go get it and enjoy playing, as. Kid I always thought forks would be awesome on a Landy, hook a hydraulic pump up to the engine and away you go

But surely you could get a hydraulic pump that can be mounted on the engine (like the compressor for a fridge van, but hydraulic) fit the levers where the dashboard should be and away you go

no just mentioned there wasnt an engine fitted in it to couple to hydraulic pump surely the electric motor ran the pump and still there

Series Land Rovers had power take offs on the gearbox that would drive a hydraulic pump

I do have a big hydraulic pump knocking about. Was going to build a press. Bought from a chap off here as it happens.

As for the anvil, I just bought one of those!

Apparently this truck is complete except for the batteries. It has been well serviced, the mast is fine but the "brain" is dead. I'm just going to pop over to the business park where it lives to have a look...
