We had one that didn't couple properly allowing gas to escape caused a factory evacuation, while muggins here (fire warden) had to disconnect it using welders gloves due to the ice build up.

I find I always have to use pump gland pliers on mine to get a good seal

Dunno what it's called, but it should have a long, bent syphon pipe on the inner end so that the evaporator can pick up liquid from the lowest portion of the cylinder rather than gas from the top.

Its called a dip tube if you look at the bottom of the cylinder when on the fork lift there should be a large white arrow that points down that is to indicate the direction of the dip tube. oh look utube has a dip tube vid

Dunno about that. The LPG feeds on my Silver Shadow are incorporated into the gas tank in the boot.

To clear things up a little.
I was asking as I was given a bottle with some propane remaining in the bottom.
I would say I was going to "keep" the lpg before cutting up the bottle but I wont as that is against forum belief.

The amount left in is not worth the cost of the attachment so either I wont bother at all or it will be vented.

P.s., I was aware of the dip tube as I used to drive lpg forklifts some time back.

The odd FLT cyls have an adapter screwed into the normal type LHT and if that is removed a normal reg will fit but you must put the arrow the other way up to use the gas, not the liquid lpg.
I have a 47 kg here that has both types of tap on it----- gas and liquid draw.

I used 2 fork lift bottles to run a gas fridge I had, the fork lift connection unscrewed from the valve body on those, I cut a normal propane valve female threaded end off and silver soldered the two together to make an adapter.
