Forge building plans

anyone know where i can find some? look like they would be simple enough to build, am wanting to build one for myself in my shed, the blower arrangement looks like it would be the only complicated part to source as opposed to being able to fabricate myself...anyone got one in yorkshire or nearby they will sell to me?

Gas or coal/coke fuelled? Google comes up with loads of tips from sites like iforgeiron or go to British Blades for some ideas. Gingery has some useful stuff as well like coffee can forges for back yard dabblers. Yorkshire is the epicentre for steel work and you should be able to find refractory suppliers for forge linings fairly easily. Gas powered forges don't necessarily need blowers, naturally aspirated propane burners are efficient enough.

If you're going coke powered, which I'd recommend if you want to do anything serious, as in reasonably heavy, it's actually not difficult. Steel box, flap valve to regulate airflow, and I use an axminster centrifugal fan, which was originally a dust extractor. Quite easy to build and works well. The only thing that I find annoying is the noise from the fan, which does my head in after an hour or so and probably explains why I tend to use the oxy torch unless I have a lot of forging to do.

A mate of mine has a full sized blacksmiths forge with the air supplied by a cylinder vacuum cleaner. it has run for years using this. I expected it to blow up in a week.
