Ford ranger side lights

Got a new Ranger supplied by my work. Got a couple of things that are annoying the nipples off me. The seat belt chime was one - now deactivated. The side lights being on all the time or when you open a door is the other, anyone know if it is possible to switch them off?

The seat belt chime was easy, ignition on, let the seat belt light go off (2min), then fasten the drivers seat belt four times quickly, light flashes quickly then goes out. Reactivation is the same process.

Why does the sidelight being on bother you ? A lot of modern / new cars have DRL's (Daylight Running Lights) so suspect the Ranger uses the sidelights as that function.

I usually have lights on all the time these days.

Just take the bulbs out.

Stealth Ranger. If its not an option in the ever increasing comples electonics then its a hack the wiring jobbie.

As I have had a company car fitted with a tracker for some time (hate the ideal! ) I decided to look up the legalities the other day and found that they must inform you that a tracker is fitted and are NOT allow to track an individual but can track the car/van/lorry. But I then read further that if the car is available for privet mileage (out of work hours) there should be a "deactivate" switch for those times. Something my company have neglected to get done.....Something to bring up at the next team meeting

They did offer the "suppository" tracker but I said I prefer a Nokia or Samsung

+1 on that, Mrs Robo's Peugeot has auto lights, locking etc as user settable on the dash display

All the vehicles at our place have just had trackers fitted and everyone knew/was told about it. As they all work in the forestry it's useful to know if the van hasn't moved for a while. Phone coverage not the best if there has been an accident

A couple of teams at work have sprinter vans with about £100k of test and measurement kit kept on board, after one was stolen they were all micro dotted a nd fitted with trackers. Few weeks ago in a meeting we flicked up the tracker software onto the projector and watched an idiot miss his junction three times. They are proving invaluable to really find out where the vans go and why we rack up huge fuel bills

The truck isn't tracked, I am ! Lone worker, don't mind it being tracked, nice to know if something happens I can be found quickly

It wasn't supposed to be serious Kent. Like I said above all vehicles have been fitted with them and everyone was told. Its more to do with safety working in the woods. Mind you they found out that a pick up a garage was supposed to be working on has not moved for the last 4 weeks even though the firm has said they have been on road tests with it.

did the firm tell the garage they know they are telling porkies or saving it for when the bill gets presented? LOL
