Good advice Pete, will try that next timeIve mentioned before the hazards of using magnets near your lathe. Fine if you have a de-magnetiser but damned annoying when your tools all start collecting swarf.
BTW before I had a proper de-magnetiser Inused to use an old 110v yellow box site transformer. Just plug it in and drag the part across the lid. The AC field would remove a lot of the magnetism from the part. Not as good as a proper one but good enough to stop you going mad. Might work better using the base as it’s usually closer to the windings.
