Yes I had our tank open yesterday, chucked in a dead rabit to help the bugs. Not pleasent. Glad its plastic really.

Thought you only need to do tricks like that to get them started ?
Ours doesn't smell particularly unless you disturb the crust on top, mind you ours is a old brick built one, perhaps modern plastic ones don't work as well

Our is the same, did it for two reason, i had a dead rabit, and the tank has not long been emptied.Thought you only need to do tricks like that to get them started ?
