Footwear for DIY

what do most of us do our diy /decorating /gardening in?
My brother in law is a ground worker and he was digging his borders in flip flops,I decorate in slippers or crocs,who else does this?

Really old, really grotty, really comfy Reebok Classic trainers for decorating, and riggers boots for welding etc.

After numerous old shoes, trainers, safety boots and such I've now settled on riggers for anything outside. I have "foot drop" on left (after stroke) and boots help support. I also have NHS issued insole to build up left side due to different length legs !
Inside I simply wear my normal slippers - Ikea version of Crocs.

I'm a steel toecaps and midsole sort of bloke .. I sometimes wear a pair of DM sandels in the evening when watching a movie and drinking wine ....jeff

I wear wellies with steel toe-caps when grit blasting (trousers on the outside otherwise I fill my wellies).

I think riggers are actually banned for welders........spark / molten drop traps

I once had a molten drop down the inside of my safety boots at work, burnt pretty deep into the side of my ankle while I was trying to undo my laces and rip my boot off.

I only wear slip on dealer boots at work now.

That website quotes prices excluding VAT at 20%, surely VAT is 0% on safety wear? e.g.

For light jobs inside house, pretty much anything. Outside jobs or garage / workshop steel toe capped boots.

One thing I've found is that crocs are awful on smooth wet ground like slabs or concrete

Normally old comfortable trainers. Steel capped boots for where there may be any risk of dropping large heavy objects on my foot.
Also currently looking for a cheap ankle length suede or leather boots for welding.

Yeah that may well be the case, but its fine for me messing about in my garage. They come off real quick if need be though!

Crocs or croc-a-likes are deadly on wet slabs I found as above. I had a pair of really good boots called Tomcat given me and they are taking some breaking in but they are getting there. I wear them for everything except driving which is a challenge with them on.

I wear rigger boots for gardening and any messing about in the garage/welding for the simple reason you can slip them off instantly if you need to go back into the house for anything. No laces to undo, instant clean socks on clean floors. No grief from the other half. Priceless...

I wear riggers, I find them to be really comfy, and you save your toes when you need to rest something, or give something a bit of a kick

I pretty much live in my DeWalt steel toe cap boots. used to wear riggers when I was an apprentice but after being fairly badly burnt after a bit of steel that I was cutting fell into the boot I have gone off them.

suprising how hot steel gets when being cut with a grinder.

Rigger boots for me. Easy to get on and off. Overalls on the outside to stop hot bits going down them.
