foot pedal for transformer machines , help needed

hiya guys

im looking for some advice on geting myself a foot pedal for my welder . i have a quite large philips ads 200 machine its ac/dc . im needing one because i cant seem to do a very long weld before the weld starts geting wider and then the pool sags .

the problem i have is its very old and i dont know where to find a pedal
on this site there was a thread about making a pedal which im up for but im not sure how and wouldnt know what regulator to use eathier

any ideas or solutions ?

You need to know what the pins do in the remote socket and the resistance of the potentiometer in the pedal.

Check the rheostat in the control panel. the external one will usually be the same value and power.

Mine uses a 25 ohm, 150 watt control. Not something you can find easily

is there a way i can find this out with a multi meter or something as it doesnt have anything writen on the internal one

It is usually written on the edge, but may be on the front of the control. Would probably have to be removed to see.

You can measure it with an ohm meter. you may have to disconnect one of the leads.
