I managed to pop down for a bit this evening to do a bit more one FOM. I had hoped to be down all day but had to cover for someone at my other job.

I crawled back under the front and finished off plug welding the toe board plate in, ground the excess down and whacked some primer on.

I also started on the reinforcing plate for the top the exhaust tunnel that internal **** mechanism will sit on.

This my brothers internal shifter that I'll be replicating for the estate.

Cheers guys, I got back down again this evening and started by seam welding the reinforcing plate to the tunnel.

I took a little inspiration from Matts mount and came up with this.

Added a nice swaged hole at the front for the shift rod to come through.

It sits quite nicely in the car slightly further back that standard and obviously about 3 inches higher up.

I got a seat and column back into FOM this afternoon before getting the gear stick where I liked it and tacking the mounts in place. On the final build I'll be using a start style gear stick not a quick crunch though.

I also had a little play with the shrinker/stretcher + hole swager and started making the rear section for my '69 Camaro SS style bonnet bulge.

The bulge will be 3CM higher than the scuttle and overlap it by another 3/4CM while tapering from 48CM wide at the back to 34CM at the front.

Great fab work, yOu could emulate the camaro grill and lights too. Try and get some genuine camaro lights. Would be very cool

I did want to do a Camaro style grill with sliding covers covers that go over the headlights but I don't think there's really enough room.

This style could look quite smart, although I don't think I'd have the indicators on show. I also really like the colour.

In other news I had a bit of spare time after lunch today so I went down and finished welding the N/S toe board plate in. I don't think they'll be going anywhere in a hurry.

Helped a friend with a spit for his little cooper project.
He wants to do the vtech swap when's it's been made solid. I know where to come if we get stuck with anything.

I got the final smoothing work done on the radius arms done yesterday. I used a 60 grit flap wheel then a 100 grit disc on the linisher and finally a soft scotch brite disc. Now they just need etch primer, lots of high build and loads of flatting.

I also bolted my top arms on and pulled my fancy bottom arms and tie bars out ready to get the front rolling.

looks good . just a pity u have smoothed them off and shiny theres nothing for the etch to bite in to . id ruff them up a bit or sand blast them to get a good key 1st

That's what I though but I wanted to wait for someone else to weight in first.

The front suspension's on as are my shinny 4 pot calipers.

I sat a jack under it to try and get it to ride height but I need to get it on the floor and an engine in it to get it right.

As it sits the tyres poke out by about 15MM and I'd imagine that'll go up a bit once it's at ride height.

The raised numbers on the wheels weight just clip the calipers but they can be moved in a bit to clear. You can also see the balljoint spacer on the bottom of the hub to bring to bottom arm back a better angle once the car is lowered.

In fairness, not a problem Langy seems to have with his bits

having sandblasted a few hundred wheels and a lot of motorcycle parts a good key for the paint is verry important .even with etch primer otherwise the paint will chip and scratch off quite easily

So for the first time since I bought the estate it's on wheels if only 2.

I think with a bit more camber I could get away with running 6X10s without arches.

The radius arms are on now, just need some Hi-Los.

And I went and got my MPI head from the sorting office. The threaded lugs on the thermostat end should make mounting the SC easier.

Still no rear Hi-Los but I got some rear hubs and Mini Fins on so I could get it rolling.

I also pulled the cones out the front to get it at ride height. Anyone want some of my extra camber.

Under 80MM of ground clearance, wont be able to drive this anywhere.
