I've been offered a no' 2 Flypress, for about thirty pounds, I've just been googling flypresses to figure out what they are used for, punching, shaping and pressing things together. I do a fairly wide and varied variety of stuff in my workshop as a marine and general mechanic, welding and general fixer of most things. I also like many of us have a compulsion to buy interesting looking things especially tool wise and workshop related as it could be useful....
I've seen flypresses in workshops, but never used one and never seen anyone use one, are these things now defunct replaced by hydraulic presses? Does anyone have one and find it useful? Is it a useful piece of kit or is it just 30 quid spuffed as it looks pretty and will just clutter up my already cluttered workshop?
Every now and then I need to remove bearing races and replace them but generally a lump hammer and a drift works well enough for me? Any thought much appreciated as ever, thanks, Mat.
