lorenzo was curious to see how i was going with the fluxed cored wire, I am useing bohler thryssen union rv 71, so heres a couple of pics of the first job iv done useing it, what do you think chris?
About 3/4 of a ton that little sucker, Its on casters though so im going to tow it up the top of a hill one day and race it against the press brake, just need some 5 ton casters to put it on!!!!
the main lumps are 5mm and the ware strips are 13mm, the press would only have them in 2 ft sections hence the fact there welded down the middle. theres 30 ft worth of them its a new skin for a combine harvester header, aparently the oem part is £500 per 4 ft section, with no ware bars !!!!. time to get a cnc brake i think.
We found in the past if the radius are not quite the same the plates pull in all kinds of directions and makes them a B****D to get on, so we pressed them lose and only welded them where flat, i kept an eye on the template and it seems to have worked with only a small amount of HD, I was running at about 280ipm on the wire drive with 37.8 OCV.
thought id stick a pic of the skids on and fitted, going back to weld the joints on the wear bars but ordered me new portable mig today so will give it a try out this.
verticals, far more like useing a stick, the arc is much more controled and you dont get that mass of moten material when your in spray, you can drop the power to get the same penetration + it looks pretty
