Hi, I can see its been a while but do you have any wiring diagram and/or pictures of the mods you have done. Thinking about similar mods and would love some reference materials to compare
The mods are fairly straightforward, just adding a bridge rectifier across the AC secondary output, an inductor ( choke ) in series, and connectors to allow polarity reversal. There aren't any diagrams as such, and the OP has only provided basic descriptions of the components he used.
What is the make & model of the welder you are proposing to modify? Does the data plate include the diode symbol for a rectifier, or does it only show a transformer ( two overlapping circles ) ?
What is the main type of work that you plan to do with this welder? How many power settings does it have, and what is the minimum output current? One of the reasons that the modifications described in this thread were worthwhile was because the AutoJack has a fully-variable power control.
