Fluke Clamp meter problem?

And this one for most of my work.

Perfect for identifying and measuring the earth leakage current in a circuit where the RCD keeps tripping out unexpectedly.

They are both excellent meters and measure exactly the same, although the ethos one is better for tight dis boards.
I can recommend the Ethos kit, I have a few bits and they are all spot on!

it seems a bit of a joke you can buy a test meter new for 150 quid without a calibration cert or pay 175 with a cert . whats that about surely if new they would be calibrated anyhow so you basically paying extra for the piece of paper . ive got a seward checkbox that calibrates all the meters but that doesnt count even though i have a cert for it

Calibrated to a certified standard isn’t the same as “yeah it works”.

To be member of UKAS or whatever accreditation body costs money every year, training for people doing the cal and they get rechecked every so often that they are doing it right, generally requires some temperature controlled environment to do the testing - plus someone’s time to do the checks, produce certificate…no one’s doing that for free.

I wait for one of my wholesalers to do a cal day and take them all in,
They must love me as last year I took 11 testers for calibration.
And yes it cost best part of £300 for that lot. I'm going to be more selective this year!

Oh yes Free coffee and a bacon roll!
For the price I paid they weren't free.
It's all due again for recal in May.

A lot of these heavy industrial clamp meters don't work well at very low currents. I assume you know that if you coil the wire around the clamp you can increase the sensitivity. On the off chance that anyone wants to take a closer look at clamp meters testing accuracy and calibration, here, it is; beware, you will probably lose the will to live partway through. It also shows different types of clamp meters and the various current sensing sensors that they employ.
