Having done a few turret tops on Fords many years ago, if you can weld up a strut brace to keep the distance between them held when you weld in the new top plates, the Capri was never a strong body on the front and will bend a bit, have seen a few bonnets that wouldn't shut after bodywork.Good to know re the joggler. Maybe I could do it in the vice instead.
I'll re read what you have written (just been summoned to B&Q) but from what I can see if I cut the top mount plate out that cup will stay in place with the 3 suspension holes as it has all this support underneath.
I'll go through the Capri power forum too to see if I can find anyone else whos done this job. I keep finding bits on youtube but they're not showing it in depth enough. Definitely dont want to loose the geometry of the steering. I'm not making any cuts untill I've decided how to weld this and importantly nothings going to get out of wack.
