Flexible Sanding Block?

Hi chaps, hopefully this is a simple question

Is there such a thing? I've got the usually hard rubber jobby, but want something that will follow contours. All I've seen so far is disposable blocks, I'd really like something that takes sheets of abrasive paper.

i bought one same as the dura block for £3 they have a soft and hard side, trying to think were the hell i bought if from

Thanks for the suggestions chaps The soft sanders from Frost look to be a good option because the description mentions they take sheet abrasive paper.

The orange ones from Brown Brothers were flexy like a Staedtler rubber[if you know what that's like]. It was the first block I bought, when I replaced it I was ****** to find they had sold me a thing about as flexy as bit of wood. The second one came from a specialist bodyshop! But I haven't bought one of the BrownBros ones for a long time, they might well be crap now.

I chopped my last one up to use as a squeegee for polystop. And last week I bought one from Toolstation, I unwrapped it today and it's a ****ing horrible piece of ****[**** **** **** filter working?], I almost posted to ask if any of the other cheapo places flogged a decent one;-)

I just had a look and there's a block describes as "made from soft rubber" in their[I have no idea if it's the same as they used to sell] online Abrasives PDF Catalogue.

I use bits of aluminum backed insulation sometimes known Celotex or Kingspan. You can cut it to size with a bread knife (but don't tell wife) to any size you like. You can buy a sheet new or any building site has loads of off cuts in their skips.

Good thing is because of the aluminum backing on both sides it doesn't break up or not for a long time anyway. I use the 25mm/1" stuff as it has just enough flex yet stay rigid enough to do the job.

If you can get hold of even half a sheet it would last you ages.

I use a meguiars flexible jobbie for wetsanding, apparently it can be used as a squeegie (spelling?) too but I don't like the sound of that

I thought to get a ripple free finish you needed a long stiff block such as a smooth bit of wood. Have I got that wrong or is this a difference between sanding high build and colour sanding?

MG David; do you mean without the waves? like a show finish; mirror flat?

if so yeah you need to hard block but when you have a contoured surface you can use semi rigid blocks. also to get that sort of finish its best if you flow coat the clear.
