So basically cill height? Many internal combustion engine cars are insurance write-offs after a flood as well. Insurers see too much risk of failure of the multiple modules hidden away at fairly low levels.
Or: buy a Jaguar i-Pace. I was told all JLR products have a design wading depth of 500mm, including XE/F/J except the i-Pace which is 'only' 300mm.
someone on youtube bought a tesla that had been in a flood, water got into the battery ($16,000 sounds familiar), he managed to repair it but he owns a tesla garage, Joe blogs wouldnt have much of a chance.
as for fires, all they need is to run over a sharp object and pierce the casing, even the fire brigade cant put the fire out, imagine that in an underground garage ?
If it was a convertible then that would have been the Tesla Roadster, which went for a cool quarter million dollars, so not good news for the owners! When we were in Spain a few years back, we were in a village having coffee when a Tesla convertible passed the square, smart girl in passenger seat with the obligatory scarf blowing in the breeze. My wife looked up & spotted a big black rain cloud coming over, so we went to shelter under the covered market area, looked across & the Tesla was sat there with the hood down. Next thing was a rainstorm of truly biblical proportions for about an hour, thunder lightning hail the lot! Tesla still sat there, hood down. When the rain passed over I went & looked at the car, about 2 inches deep in the footwell & the deep bucket seats were holding about 6 inches. I would have loved to been there when the couple returned. I have no knowledge what the couple were doing at the time to leave the car like this, but I can hazard a guess
No different than any convertible, I expect?
It's not just the depth of water but can also be the bow wave set up by oncoming morons who insist on playing Donald Campbell. We lost a car due to this when the oncoming wave drowned our car with a loud " clunk" as a rod broke . We had come to a halt at the time . Car written off along with 1000's of others that day . Mid 2000's. Just don't deliberately enter water just because it 'doesn't look too deep'.since i am going into London with my EV i am interested in the wading depth,
i know that all my 400V equipment is ip67 rated, so should be ok for quite a bit of depth
