It's going to be easier to replace a whole panel that was spot welded than letting in a section which need careful butt welding and then loads of fettling or filler to disguise.

I hate it when you find things like that as it makes me wonder where else has been repaired. On one car (Hillman Imp) I found the side had a 2" layer of filler over the whole rear wing.Nothings ever straight forward
Looks like it's had a knock on the left quoter panel in the past and had a load of filler thrown at it, expertly done though, lines are identical to the other side!

It looks nice and original underneath, no previous patches ect which is why I went ahead on fixing it.
Wether it's still worth it, I dunno.
Looks like I'm going to find a lot of crap under the filler.
the filler goes all the way to the boot seal lip,
Ive knocked alot off and it's fresh clean metal under there, I dont understand why there's so much

Doesn't need to be on the road for a good year yet, the other one is my daily driver, so I have the time to do it properly.
The plan was to fix the damage, refurbish both subframes and make it as new as possible (afford
) underneath.I've chiseled off some of the filler and it looks like its all solid apart from around the light,
I'll chop that section out of the scrapper and weld it in, doesn't look like I need the whole panel .. which is serious work.
You were convinced the boot catch had not move in post 1 too. Then it was 40mm out. Chances are the whole rear panel profile has changed side to side. If you want everything to fit properly you should check the profile.There's only a very thin skim of filler on the side of the panel, I think its taken a knock around the light and been pushed out and filled.

Always best, that's the difference between a back street repair and a good one, the extra time you take.The shut line is identical to my good one
