I've recently been trying to get a cheap, rubbish little Clarke drill press to do what it's supposed to do (drill holes properly) and have had to buy a new chuck. The old one was falling apart and was mismatched to the drill taper (drill taper was B16, chuck was JT33). I've also replaced the rubbish Chinese bearings with some decent Koyo ones.
Lastly, I got the taper dressed up at a local engineering firm; it had been scored from having the wrong chuck fitted (see above). So now I need to fit my new B16 chuck to the drill taper. Is there anything I need to do/be aware of or is it a simple case of tapping the chuck onto the taper?
