My bicycle had a new crank set last year, the left crank has a square taper socket (aluminium), and had somehow came loose and started to chew up the square taper just enough that it would keep working loose. The male taper of the bottom bracket/crank spindle is fine, no damage (steel)
I filed the burrs and got it fitting as good as possible and seemed ok for about 150 miles, only for it to come loose again yesterday, 10 miles in to a 45 mile ride. I tapped it back, done the bolt up tight, and it did stay put. I think I noticed it before any more damage was done, no new burrs.
Anything I can do to make this a permanent fix?
