Fitted a cheap readout to my Boxford lathe.
1 axis so far.
Tried to build it within a sliced up box section assembly to keep coolant off because it's not a coolant proof scale.
Had to take a side off the box section length ways and add some more aluminium trim etc.
Fitted bed stops to stop saddle crashing into the ends.
500mm scale.
I suppose the saddle has lost a few inches of travel now, down to about 470mm.
The readout itself is £44 on ebay
