At the tender age of 8, one of these was what I learned to drive in/on. Now on FB marketplace, cheapish too. Tempting. Must resist.

My memory of this is a tad cloudy. It was either an XJ6 or P5B (both being prepped for the banger track) but there was also a Renault 4 and a Simca hatchback on the farm. Whichever it was, it was before I was 10

I had a bad habit of "borrowing" my sisters Hillman Imp , I used it to drive to school and back

First vehicle I ever drove at around 8 also, a Massey Fergusson 135, and got to steer an old Ransomes combine harvester around a field, my dad wouldn’t let me go solo in that though as it had little in the way of brakes and used to jump out of gear which made it interesting on a steep hill.

I was given a Reliant Regal when I was 15, so that was mine. Then came the Anglia that I passed my test in, before writing it off by coasting downhill. Always a telegraph pole right where you don't want it! Place called Pound o' candles Lane. More of a steep dirt track wide enough for one vehicle. Freewheeling and wet weather are a bad combination.

First car I drove was a Fiat 126,i must of been 8/9 years old at the time.

I started out on a tractor too, a red DB 770! Clutch was that heavy I had to use both feet to operate it. First job was steering it around the field whilst my Mum & Dad loaded hay bales onto the buckrake behind.

Local farmer had a DB 1200 that had been modified with a set of wide oversize rims & the engine tuned. He did silage contracting with it & a 48" side mounted JF harvester. Tractor was a local legend with its power & ability to grip on the wet ground around here. Where the MF 185's were getting stuck the DB would sail past happily not stopping!

Can still remember as a small kid sitting between the guys legs steering the white steering wheel on it!
