ive been doing a lot of gasless welding to learn from similar to arc to me
heres my first goes at the gas and wire stage pics, video is included with sound via another link a storage site i use steel scrap piece is 3mm the first weld is a test weld the other 3 is welding the last one failed and chipped off with pliers thats the straight and then diagonal piece of weld
i could tell the difference straight away between them i believe the second one sounds better than the sip and also was hotter and from the pics welded much better than the sip
pics 1,2,3 are the sip machine the rest is clarke machine
i will try again with the sip but the sip does the same as the sip 150 gas/gasless machine sort of jittery on the wire feed or caused by burn back of the wire
ive got 40 bar of pressure still left in bottle 600 psi i think used the markings upon the dials for both machines but the sip got red hot in the wire feed handle so im going to take a look at that first
Try and steady your welding hand on the back of your other hand. You can get a much straighter weld by doing that. It also stops your distance to the metal from changing.
well ive been doing a mixture of stuff while learning welding
i have been creating a steel shed door for next door neighbour a box section frame and also a welding kart frame this has used a mixture of thickness of steel box section used from a thin bed frame to a 14" width 4 wheel table thats been extended to create something else this is using some bought and scrap lengths ive been getting hold of
clarke 150tm welder settings using boc y gas min, a2, 3-4, max, 1-a2, 3-4
thickness used ranged from 1mm to 1mm, 1mm to 2mm, 1mm to 3mm, 2mm to 2mm
