So, the newbie, (thats me!), finally got round to using the argon gas with my new Mig Welder.. I would welcome your comments.
I am using 0.6mm wire and I am not really getting full penetration. The images show the top and reverse of my test metal sheet and after I have used a flat wheel. The best option I am thinking is the one with a 1mm Gap. I had the welder on full power for the 0.6mm wire and 0.9mm sheet metal.. The weld is holding both sides and filling the gap.
On the other edge to edge butt welds, I think I am not heating up the metal enough and a blob of metal is forming on the top of the sheet metal..
On the Flux cored 0.8mm wire, I do get some penetration but I do get some blowed welds.
As my school exam papers used to say... "Discuss" !!
Would welcome your comments..
Thanks
Bob.
