First time post: Parweld helmet, how low can it go?

hi all,this is my first post.i stumbled across this site following various links;as you do!from a auto restoration page.very impressed with the aston martin work,anyway,back to helmets,i use a lansec everyday with amps from as low as 15 up to 400 and never had any issues with stability.100% reliable.purchased it from midland welding ltd,cannot recall how much but worth every penny.it also came with a filtered air pack and since having that i wouldn't weld without......

I cant fault the Parweld for stability or reaction time, it is the clarity for fairly low amp TIG that I am after. Do you use your for TIG Jono66?

I have gone cheaper than parweld. Although i am looking forward for a speedglas. I am suprised that is quite sturdy.
Darkens with a room lamp lit on, quite fast.

get the esab eyetech, 5-13 if your gona spend £150 you might aswell spend another £50 knowing that you have an excellent range.

my tutor at college has got a speedglas and its a nice helmet but is only shade 9-13 and it £200

someone else on my course has got the optrel satelite and due to the convex screen on the front you get shadows.

then theres my eyetech 2 and its excellent no shadows, stupidly quick reaction time and goes from shade 5-13.
you aint guna get much better or your pennies..

lansec

the lansec is marketed by Jackson safety products in the uk .

do a search on the net . there top of range helmet is the Grey, Attitude 390
. i personally liked this helmet and it does grinding and plasma . but to be honest my fave is the optrel .
£170 plus vat the lansec would be 150 plus .
My money id buy the optrel you will not be dissapionted .
my website is being redone buut no helmets on yet .

The helmet shell on the Jackson/Lansec is poor quality compared to the likes of ESAB/Speedglas in my opinion.
The all important optics, made in Switzerland by Optrel, are used in the ESAB Eye-Tech II units & their shell design is far superior than the Optrel... again, in my opinion.
Speedglas are regarded by many as 'the best' but again, some users will say the ESAB is better... all depends on personal preference.
Welding snobbery... "I've always used a Speedglas"

hmmmm

this is turning into a great subject and just shows there is lots of opinion .
Would say one thing tho about the lansec , they invented the twisty cartridge and there helmets switch faster than any other , its a shame you cant try before you buy .
think i will do some testing on this as have the lansec , optrel and can get a speedglass , also have the parweld but i dont like this as its too bright .

Parweld xr914H from diy welding

I got a parweld xr914H from diy welding yesterday,just done a bit of welding to try it out and to be honest i can't fault it,no shadows,darkens very quickly and at £44 a superb price.He was very helpful too.10/10 for both the helmet and diy welding.

I bought a second 9002D the other day and was interested to note that the lens quality is significantly improved over the first which is now a good couple of years old. I don't know whether the first lens simply degraded or whether the new one has been improved,but the newer one is much clearer, with everything appearing less green.

Both are great helmets although I have had the adjustable part snap on one. Parts are easily available though. Best mod was buying a leather forehead cushion to replace the scratchy fibre thing that comes with it.

I did look into buying the 9002X for the larger lens but decided it was quite a price leap for a few extra mm.
