Direct gloss is exactly what it says it is, full gloss without any need for clear coat.Soon much to learn haha I can't look back now thought I've bought the bloody compressor, fittings, spray gun, prep stuff etc haha...just to be 100% sure the direct gloss won't need a clear coat? Also regarding the HMG outlet there is none in the north east at all!
It's not too difficult, paint some random old panels etc if you're worried. Finding someone locally is a good bet.
It really is a process. If you follow the process you won't go far wrong with painting just an engine bay. Dealing with dents, rust etcetc is more skilled but it sounds like you just need to apply paint basically.
I found an hmg stockist in Middlesbrough? Two in Yorkshire too..
Funnily enough the place I recently bought some 9061 hardener from isn't on their map.
So I would phone around and you may find a stockist locally like I did.
