something else , for what its worth i wont use it , but thats the sort of thing you want to use
Yes it’s not what I would have chosen to use and as you rightly say the metallic effect is very poor. But the rest of the cab was painted with it so it needed to match the existing finish.Certainly it exists but the metallic is very poor
Don't paint outdoors if you can help it, you will end up with too many flies, leaves, and bits of dirt in the paint. It will trash the garage though, unless you cover everything and hang sheets on the walls. If the garage is attached to the house, the fumes will get indoors, earning you a handbagging.
Ok. I’ve been in contact with the eBay supplier - they are recommending this Black gloss celly hi build
That seems easier. No lacquer and I should be able to polish out any tree rash….
Thoughts?
Ok, I’m out in the sticks so I’ll need to go on the hunt. I’d imagine Kendal or Barrow will have a paint supplier, if not then maybe Lancaster.
Numpty question - what is the difference in what I’ll get? Compared for the eBay shop?
Ok, so taking the advice of buying paint and thinners seperate…
Black gloss celly paint
Thinners
Then I can mix down, use the thinners to clean the gun etc.
I learned that the hard way. Luckily it was only mudguards for a combine harvester. If it is yellow, NEVER paint outside. The greenfly think it is a giant sunflower and will colonise it in microseconds.
I’d like it to be black. That’s the original colour. I’m hoping the large stripes will draw the eye from any paint flaws!are you dead set on gloss black? its one of the worst choices for a beginner , will show any prep issues and needs to be sprayed on well to look half good , vs say white or a pastel colour would look okay from a few feet away over any old prep
Nu again is a proper paint supplier they just also happen to sell on ebay. I bought materials from them before and been really happy with both the service and the quality of their paint.Pre-thinned is a nice little earner for the seller. Go to a proper paint supplier, not an Ebay shop and don't buy pre-thinned regardless.
Yes you can polish it once it eventually goes off. Ideally the final coat should be about 75/25 to give it a nice gloss, but you need to know what you are doing rather than as a beginner. Runs will be the result of getting it wrong.
