Never try and suffocate a tick or burn it with a fag to get them to let go, all that does is make them regurgitate all the nasties back into your blood. Get the proper tick pullers.

three latched on, manage to find a fair few more crawling up limbs , the only benefit of light hair all over you can feel the crawly little soanso s.

The bigger ticks I can feel moving about on me. The nymphs are so small I only really notice them when they latched onto me.

Used spot-on for ticks on my succession of dogs...but was pretty horrified after seeing the Countryfile episode dealing with the toxicity of the stuff and the pollution of streams.

The closure of a 33 acre (hectare?) golf course next to me, left in effect to rewild, coupled with lockdown has seen our local deer population seemingly move closer to the houses. Now if you've no, a low fence, or penetrable hedge, they come into the gardens. Not sure if they're species specific but last year was the first time I found a tick on our cat and it was huge.

same as , I only noticed this nymph on back of hand as felt an itch , working on truck thought I had nicked myself like you do , then realising speck of black would nt brush off realised what it was , as a countryman yourself you will laugh at this , previous neighbour (you would think mrs boquet was made in her honour ) asked me if I would pop a few rabbits around the back of hers in my field (no rabbits out there) as they were eating her roses , I asked her to show me , yes the roses had been nibbled two foot up , bugger I said I am not going out there if the rabbits are that big ...

now that is interesting , I was thinking jayes fluid sprayed might work ,probably kill all the grass though?

they are pretty fat after a good feed , normally drop off on the floor at that point , its only when you pick up that bit of gravel (without your glasses on) and the damn thing sqirms you realise what you picked up , dropped one in a clean jam jar last year replaced lid , it stayed alive for weeks .

It's amazing how tiny they start off...only ever seen them when they're rice grain-size or bigger. Someone local had Lyme disease...sick for years. Usual mis-diagnosis

Removed with tweezers, but I should have read the advice not to try burning them off first.

There are some with arthritis that deliberately get stung, to alleviate their pain.

stinging nettles help too
