I have for ages been contemplating on making a much needed trailer, had an axle and loads of other bits set aside for it............until my local farmer decided to get rid of some of the old caravans he used for housing his fruit pickers. I managed to pick up the braked chasis with hitch, wheels, tyres etc for a tenner, bargain!!! So for the last few days I have been spending my time with much paint and rust removal, freeing off the siezed brakes and some much needed strengthening. Mainly just adding a few corner braces here and there, and also adding some extra metal into the tow hitch assembly that was quite badly rusted. I now have two coats of Hammerite on the chasis and am just about ready to refit the hitch and piston assembly. Just need to find some bigger wheels and tyres to fit on and fabricate the sidewalls and rear door. I am toying with the idea of making a little ramp to get my lawn tractor and CBR onto the trailer, but need something that can be removed when using as a normal trailer. I basically want a trailer that has a full width rear gate, that can be either lowered or removed, and a ramp that can be fitted within seconds to load the bike or tractor. Does anyone have some fancy ideas that might work?
Thanks in advance
