Also first post on forum, so hi all.
My son and I are restoring a deeply rusty Mark 1 escort for historic rallying (which does require an MOT btw). I havent touched a welder for 20 years and my son is a novice, so we did some practice (he's better than me - naturally co-ordinated) and started the first job - picking something accessible - the rail on the inner wing where the outer wing bolts. I obtained 2 "Front wing mounting band" but beginning to think they arent the part I thought they were - I cant see a natural fit for them.
So here are my newbie questions
1. Are repair panels mostly butted or lapped? I know if they are lapped there's a moisture trap, but how severe is it?
2. Anyone know the name of the repair part I want - if indeed there is one. (Turrets are good so I'd prefer to avoid a whole inner wing)
3. Are there any resources on what repair panels go where?
