should you have takced the welds in the corners to allow you to get a longer uninterrupted bead of weld

thats what i was taught-whats your reason for doing it in the middle?

I used a rage chop saw, I did try doing it with a hacksaw..... but it was too much like hard work

That does make more sense tacking the corners TBH the only reason I did it that way was because I had seen it done like that before.

Regarding holding the bottle on instead of nylon straps could you just weld on a length of chain and a hook on the other side to latch it onto as that whats on
my big mig for the gas bottle.
